Two Charged Over Heathrow Alleged Pepper Spray Incident
Formal charges have been brought against two men related to a luggage theft where a suspected capsaicin spray led to people being hurt at the UK's busiest airport.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, are accused of two robbery charges and charges for using a harmful chemical, as confirmed by court officials.
The charges follow an investigation into an attack at the parking structure at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, two female travelers had their suitcases stolen after exiting a parking garage elevator, according to law enforcement.
A toddler was among those injured during the incident. A total of five individuals required hospital care and were subsequently released.
The incident – which authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as terrorism – resulted in disruptions to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a limited duration.
