The network's Premier New Show of 2025 Secures a Substantial Renewal for Seasons 2 and 3.

In October of last year, the late-night programming block welcomed back its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. But, not long after, the channel unveiled a completely new animated series with a distinctly unique feel. Haha, You Clowns proved to be heartwarming and calm, in the spirit of a animated take of a contemplative talk show. In an era often characterized by bleakness, this show's sincerity resonated deeply and helped it become a surprise hit.

A Significant Investment

In mid-December, Adult Swim made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two more seasons. This offers creator Joe Cappa ample opportunity to further explore the story of the Campbell family. The show focuses on three respectful teenage brothers whose primary trait is their profound affection for their widowed father, with Cappa voicing for all four central characters.

"I am incredibly thankful to the audience of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and spread the word," said Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

Executive Acclaim

In the same announcement laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "profoundly sincere and oddly captivating." He shouted out the fans who embraced the show and advocated for its distinctly quirky style.

"All of you supported this new show, rooted for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

Earlier this fall, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a comforting antidote" to other adult animated fare. It offers something surprisingly comfy about following this charming family go about their simple existence.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa expressed his goal to help comedy break out of its long-running sarcastic tone. He attributed this trend to a broader media landscape.

“There's this level of irony that we keep returning to,” explained Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we must laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

Future Seasons

Now, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa has the opportunity to be part of that comedic shift. At a minimum, the renewal ensures audiences more opportunities to bask in the warm glow of the beloved Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. The entire series is currently streaming on HBO Max.
