Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
