Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are confirmed to appear in the upcoming Hunger Games movie, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
News has broken that beloved actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are returning to their iconic characters in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The project is now in the works.
A Significant Return to Panem
The actors will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. It is believed their cameos will take the form of a future-set scene, considering the main film series concluded with their characters married and with children.
This represents the sixth installment in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a 2025 novel by author Suzanne Collins. It serves as the second prequel film after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Returning to the director's chair is Francis Lawrence, who was behind most of the previous films in the series.
A New Era in Panem
The film's narrative are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the deadly 50th Hunger Games.
