Iran Claims Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area in the area of the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any destruction is uncertain and the United States has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted locations linked to the the regime, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.
It said wreckage landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some property damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
